Lead based paint inspection and testing in Nassau County, NY. As a heavy metal, lead is an extremely dangerous substance to young children. Before this risk was known, lead was commonly used in building materials, including paints, lead solder in plumbing, and leaded gasoline. These practices stopped in 1978, but the environmental risks remain. Lead can be present in the air, water, soil, and in older homes.

What does this mean for you? If you live in an older home, you may have lead paint in that home. Paint surfaces that are in good condition are generally not a problem, but if you are remodeling or notice that paint is flaking or crumbling, you should get that paint tested. That is where we come in.

Lead testing Long Island

Learn more about the hazards of lead from the New York State Department of Health.

We offer a three-step lead testing process to find out if your home or business has lead-based paint.

Step 1
We use X-ray fluorescence technology to complete non-destructive testing for lead-based paint. This device is a small, handheld instrument that allows us to conduct hundreds of tests in an hour. We can provide verbal results immediately. When we provide our report, we will include specific strategies to reduce risks and hazards. These strategies can include paint stabilization, removal, enclosure, encapsulation, and monitoring. We do not use subcontractors for this test, and we own all of our own equipment.

Step 2
If we find lead-based paint and it has deteriorated, we can perform a risk assessment. This risk assessment will involve sampling the household dust, soil, and water to determine if there is lead contamination. Which samples we take depends on a number of factors, including how much lead we have found, whether exterior surfaces have lead paint, or how old the plumbing is. Once we have thoroughly tested everything, we will include recommendations in our report. See our Sample Data to learn more.
